Claudio Simonetti's Goblin

Musician

Italian keyboardist-led rock group focused on film soundtracks, especially for Dario Argento films; renowned for Profondo Rosso and Suspiria, active since the 1970s.

Claudio Simonetti (born 19 February 1952 in São Paulo, Brazil) is an Italian keyboardist and composer, leader of Claudio Simonetti's Goblin. He is best known for composing and performing soundtracks for horror films (notably Profondo Rosso and Suspiria) and for touring with live soundtrack performances. Over the years multiple bands and projects have used the Goblin name (Goblin 4, Goblin Rebirth, Back To The Goblin, New Goblin, etc.).

Reviews highlight Profondo Rosso as a landmark soundtrack while criticizing recent commemorative reissues as excessive. Live shows (Profondo Rosso performed in full) are praised for atmosphere and appeal across generations. The site's coverage also documents the fragmented state of bands using the Goblin name.

For:Fans of horror film soundtracks, progressive rock listeners, cinephiles and collectors of cult film music.

“Profondo Rosso” is undoubtedly one of the best soundtracks ever in Italian cinema and one of Goblin's most successful records along with Suspiria and the underrated Roller, the latter being one of the best Goblin albums ever.
