Hello everyone, after two partial failures, I'm trying again. The purpose of my reviews is to analyze concerts in the sphere of Gothic-New wave, the only genres I like. I present to you Sisters, Siouxie, Nephilim, etc., etc.
A small introduction to the Clan of Xymox: a historic band in the field of Gothic rock-Dark wave with some similarities to the Cure, Depeche Mode, and Sisters of Mercy.
Over the years, guitars have decreased in favor of keyboards, but the lyrics have always remained in the gothic imaginary.
Let’s get to the concert: It opens with their classic anthemic "There's Not Tomorrow," very intense and fast, Ronny holds the stage very well and is very energetic and communicative; it continues with the anonymous "Cold Dump Day." The third piece is the Sisterian "Jasmine and Rose," lots of guitar and bass. Then it moves on to "Into Extremes," synthetic in the New Order style, followed by their warhorse "A Day," a Cure-like piece in electronic sauce, then "Louise," a romantic ballad a la And also the trees, then "I Want You," "Innocent," "It's Not Enough," post-dance à la Kraftwerk or DAF, even a bit Eurodance, "Farewell," stunning!, "The Bitter Sweet" dreamy, "Craving," very Cure again, the refined arrangements of "This World," "Back Door" and "Michelle," very romantic, and the concert closes with "Muscoviet Mosquito."
In conclusion, the concert was very evocative and full of emotions, guitar, bass, keyboards, and electronic drums played very skillfully, and for those who love this genre, there are no regrets. In my opinion, Xymox in their professional career did not achieve the fame and money they deserved, despite great albums and beautiful songs, but these are the risks of playing this musical genre.
