“I dinosauri” is the new album by Cisco, Alberto Cottica, and Giovanni Rubbiani, old adventure companions, and along with Cisco, founders of Modena City Ramblers. A simple album: voice, guitar, and accordion; that brings to life an energetic folk that fully engages the listener.
A work that comes from an era when people made calls with payphones, traveled without satellite navigation, and talked without chatting.
Ten songs that flow quickly yet make you reflect.
“Cosa conta”: a ballad with melancholic yet aggressive sounds. A song that makes you reflect on what are the principles and priorities of people today.
“Is a big new SUV to show off better than a piece of the Amazon and a blue sky to save?”.
“Figurine”: reminisces of faces, stories, movements, and ideologies
now vanished in a tale between father and son.
“I dinosauri”: the song from which the album takes its name, in which Cisco explains the true intent of this project and what it means for him to be “Dinosaurs”, skillfully moving from critique to sarcasm.
“Do you know what dinosaurs did? They played without talent shows, toured rock venues, even sold records in stores… they were ancient, imagine that”.
“Qui”: a ballad in pure Irish style where memories of travel and experiences, filled with sharing and adventures, prevail, always having something to teach.
“Regno di nulla”: a love song set in a sad and melancholic scenario; a sort of love among the defeated.
“Rewind”: energetic and rhythmic, this song picks up all the second thoughts and regrets of past days and the realization that not everything goes the way we wish. In the end, however, it’s unnecessary to ask why things happened as they did; it's enough to notice that the only thing that matters is to always look forward.
“I giorni della rabbia”: a very short piece where a heavy bodhran and dark accordions take center stage, opening up into an almost military hymn. A sort of warning to the young who run carefree, unaware of “the dark days of anger” yet.
“Nostra Signora di nebbie e zanzare”: is an anthem to Cisco's land, a green and gray land, a land that quakes and sometimes hurts, the land on which we all grow and which makes us who we are.
“Le cose che porto con me”: is an introspective piece, a backpack full of memories, experiences, and images that offer advice and teachings.
“These are the things I carry with me, backpack and coins, records and postcards, travel souvenirs, and naturally, you”.
“Tex”: serene, wise, and intimate, is a song that delivers beautiful emotions while playing with the icon of Tex.
