LA RECENSIONE

Who are the Ciementificio and, above all, why such an ignoble name, you may be asking. On who they are, we could spend many words, as being good adepts from the Bay Area, this group from Pescara embarks (pardon the pun) on a decidedly raw thrash metal in terms of sound, with its crown jewel being the anything but hard and pure mentality of its members. Not taking themselves too seriously: this is the main virtue of this bunch of madmen, simply brilliant in the lyrics of their songs and humorous in their online posts. The classic example of a band that the most staunch metalhead will avoid with caution since here the most sacred word is being defamed: metal.

“Marcia marcia” is their second discographic chapter, a sign that this project is supported by a good number of fans and a label that seems to believe in the potential of these guys. Creativity, as mentioned, is mainly found in the lyrics, sharp and funny just right. Just start from titles like “Tronista sei il primo della lista”, “Pogo alla volta” or “I Love You Thrash Metal” (the most successful track and a perfect anthem for every lover of the genre with lyrics that say “Faccio cose coi Forbidden, vedo gente con gli Slayer, gioco a Risiko con gli Exodus e Metallica fino al Black Album, Araya cullami, Araya curati!”) to understand there's a lot to say here. Musically, the band goes far beyond sufficiency, perhaps driven more by enthusiasm than actual technical abilities, but still delivering an honest performance in terms of intent. The graceless singing is perhaps the best part of “Marcia marcia”, the distressing screams mixed with lyrics on the verge of absurdity give way to a series of smiles that appear on the listener's face after a few listens. The production by Dysfunction Studio is good, leaving the right amount of rawness to a band that is proud of this status.

A simple and direct album, just like the protagonists themselves seem to be. Well, after answering the first of the two initial questions, here we are at the second: why such an ignoble name? Give yourself an answer, as frankly, it's impossible for me to find a plausible one for all this!
