The great actor Christopher Lee, who had turned 92 on May 27th, passed away a few days ago. Perhaps not everyone knows that he was a true art enthusiast - he had several pieces in his home collected during his career as a culture aficionado. And, even more, probably few have imagined him as a rock singer! However, Lee wanted to celebrate the mentioned birthday by releasing an EP of covers in a heavy metal style, in which he lends his voice. The Lord of the darks and the wolves of cinematic Transylvania embarked on this adventure with the Italian band Rhapsody Of Fire as his backing band. The symphonic power metal of this band, originally from Trieste and active for about 20 years, precisely matched the most convincing Vlad Dracul that has ever appeared on screens. The title of the EP is "Metal Knight" and among the songs are two tracks from the musical "Man of La Mancha," which debuted on Broadway in 1965 - loosely inspired by the adventures of Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes: "Impossible Dream" and "I, Don Quixote." The other tracks are "The Toreador March" from Bizet's "Carmen" and "My Way" by Frank Sinatra (with lyrics written by Paul Anka). Lee is not new to metal circles, having already released two albums since 2010, in which he mixes heavy metal and opera: "Charlemagne: By the Sword and the Cross" (which won him a Spirit of Metal Award from Metal Hammer) and "Charlemagne: The Omens of Death," with music arranged by Richie Faulkner of Judas Priest.
