Christoph Willibald Gluck (1714–1787) was a composer of the early Classical period, known for reforming opera and for works such as Orfeo ed Euridice, Alceste and Iphigénie en Tauride.

Gluck worked in Vienna and Paris and is historically associated with the operatic reform that emphasized dramatic coherence and expressive simplicity.
