The Profile

Chrisma is the Italian duo of Maurizio Arcieri and Christina (Christine) Moser. Debuting with Chinese Restaurant (1977) and followed by Hibernation (1979), they bridged punk’s edge with electronic and new wave textures, recording in London and working with producer Niko Papathanassiou. From 1980 onward they continued as Krisma.

Members: Maurizio Arcieri (1942–2015) and Christina/Christine Moser; Italian duo active as Chrisma in the late 1970s. Debut album Chinese Restaurant (1977) was recorded in London; Hibernation (1979) pursued a colder electronic sound. Both albums were produced by Niko Papathanassiou. The project later continued under the name Krisma.

Two in-depth reviews trace Chrisma’s leap from punk-adjacent experimental rock to frosty electronic textures. Chinese Restaurant (1977) was recorded in London amid the punk surge; Hibernation (1979) sharpened the duo’s synth-driven edge with Kraftwerk shades. Both highlight Christina Moser’s voice and Arcieri’s vision, with production by Niko Papathanassiou. Overall, an enthusiastic nod to their pioneering role in Italy.
