Solo venture dated 2002 from the Frontman of the Black Crowes. An emotional album where the singer's rock influences marry the melancholy and sweetness (well expressed by the omnipresent piano!) of melodies and unquestionably profound lyrics. After years of southern rock with his band, he returns with an album where one can almost experience out-of-body adventures, surrendering to the sway of the music that cradles you. Rock yes, but without ignoring forays into Funky (the 70s kind like Tower of Power!) with "Ride", or even soft pop like "Silver Car". A special mention goes to the track "Kids that ain't got none", which, along with realistic lyrics, pairs a surprising melody with its tonal changes.
In short, if you love rock, a beautiful warm voice, and a sophisticated union of Melody and Musicality, this is the right album!
