This CD is violent (in response to the criticism that rained down like würstel following the fact that I omitted this little detail).
The beginning, for these five Finns, is anything but complicated, unlike other bands: two demos of great quality (but that do not reflect - especially in light of the latest release - the style of the children of the most famous lake in metal) and they are immediately, through Spinefarm, under the protective wing of Nuclear Blast, one of the most powerful labels in the metal world.
In this album, COB offers a very symphonic death metal, heavily contaminated by black metal but here and there you can already hear small melodic parts of pure power metal, parts that will take over all other influences in the second album of their career: Hatebreeder.
Technically impeccable: Alexi Lahio spits solos and sweeps (yes, I know you don't know what they are but I don't care) as if it were normal, supported and doubled by the immense keyboardist Janne Warmann and by a rhythmic section that is not exceptional but still decent.
Last element, THE GREAT GUITARIST Alexander Kuoppala who, despite being as good as Lahio (and perhaps even more, just listen to the live shows) was always relegated to the role of rhythm guitarist due to Alexi's egocentrism. Now Kuoppala has left COB, rebelled, and is finally free. They saw him running in the Finnish forests naked and in a frenzy, go Ale, we are all with you.
We were saying??? Ah yes... well great CD, violent, angry, and enhanced by Alexi Lahio's virtuosity, growl similar to Popeye's voice, and the great Janne Warmann: a great duo of neoclassical inspiration. You will struggle not to fall in love with this CD.
The result is truly curious and intriguing.
'Lake Bodom' conceptually summarizes the entire album, and I find it perfect for introducing the band to a newcomer of the Espoo quintet.
