I am amazed not to find even a single review of Chick Corea on DeBaser, a talented Jazz and free jazz musician, very skilled at playing keyboards and the piano-

Looking at him, you might think, here's the usual intellectual, nerd, when instead he is a great pianist. It's a pity that in this album he almost always limits himself to playing accompaniment parts.

The album in question is "Light Years" from 1987, and it's accompanied by high-caliber musicians like John Patitucci on bass, Frank Gambale on guitar, Deve Well on percussion, and Eric Marienthal on saxophone.

In this album, one can understand that to make good music, it's not necessary to fire off "million" notes per second, but rather to play the right note at the right moment.

The album features a light Jazz that recreates fusion atmospheres with the use of keyboards in some tracks, while in others it returns to more classic jazz.

There are beautiful arrangements of guitar, sax, and bass, always following the concept of the right notes at the right time. It's a pity for Chick who will almost always remain in the background, giving space to all the other instruments, which is strange since the album is in his name, and then there's the name of the band, Electric Band.

Overall, a beautiful album, enjoyable and entertaining, but the final score is 8 out of 10 because the piano will remain merely as an accompaniment to the other instruments
