LA RECENSIONE

LIGHT AS A FEATHER is a masterpiece.

It's 1973, "Bitches Brew" had already once again propelled jazz in a new direction, and Chick Corea, from the kingdom of Miles Davis, here turns everything towards LATIN-FUSION territories with a project, Return To Forever, which brings together: his percussive majesty AIRTO (Moreira) with his wife FLORA PURIM, voice and percussion, STANLEY CLARKE on bass and JOE FARRELL, flute and sax. No guitar.

The tracks are 6 and all of very high level: from the almost 11 minutes of absolute elegance of "Light as a Feather" (music by Clarke and lyrics by Purim), to the barely 3 minutes of "Children's Song", adorably hypnotic, the atmosphere is very warm, thanks to Corea's electric piano which does not perform a stylistic exercise, but seduces immediately making everything magnificently balanced, enjoyable and accessible.

It all closes with perhaps the most famous version of his "Spain", a wonderful showpiece that has always accompanied him.

This album is like a design object, that is, perfect, OUT OF TIME AND FASHION, capable of transmitting emotions to us every time we focus on it. At this point, just close your eyes and float "500 miles high", light as a feather...
