The Profile

Charlie Feathers (1932–1998) was an American rockabilly singer‑songwriter from Mississippi. A pivotal figure of the genre, he recorded for Sun Records and King Records and became a cult influence thanks to his twitchy rhythms, yelps and sudden falsetto leaps. His 1950s sides and later sessions earned admiration from artists across garage and punk scenes.

Recorded for Sun Records before cutting key rockabilly material for King Records. Celebrated for 1950s tracks such as “Can’t Hardly Stand It,” “One Hand Loose,” and “Get With It.” Lauded by Lux Interior (The Cramps), Tav Falco, and Alan Vega. The 1973 Chicago sessions surfaced as Rockabilly Rhythm! in 1981.

A single, glowing review celebrates Charlie Feathers as a cult rockabilly icon, tracing his Sun-to-King arc and praising Rockabilly Rhythm!. It nods to film shout‑outs, 1956’s “Can’t Hardly Stand It,” and his yelping, wolfish vocals. Admirers like Lux Interior, Tav Falco, and Alan Vega get name‑checked. Expect rockabilly, country and blues in nimble balance.
