Charles Sheffield

Charles Sheffield (1935–2002) was a British-American physicist and award-winning science fiction author. He is best known for the Heritage Universe series and for blending rigorous science with adventure. His novelette “Georgia on My Mind” won both the Nebula and Hugo Awards.

Physicist and SF author; British-born American. Active 1978–2002. Created the Heritage Universe series (Summertide, Divergence, Transcendence, Convergence, Resurgence). Won the Nebula and Hugo for “Georgia on My Mind.” Served as president of SFWA (1984–1986).
