Charles Milles Manson (1934–2017) was an American criminal and cult leader who also wrote and recorded songs. His recordings include the demo collection LIE: The Love And Terror Cult.

Convicted of murder and conspiracy; recorded home demos in the late 1960s later released as LIE: The Love And Terror Cult (1970).

Two DeBaser reviews evaluate Charles Manson's LIE: The Love And Terror Cult as a collection of home-recorded demos with poor sound quality but occasional strong melodies. Reviewers note country and psychedelic influences, frequent talk-singing, and brief songs. Opinions differ on musical merit; recording quality is repeatedly criticized.

For:Listeners interested in 1960s outsider/lo-fi recordings, readers curious about controversial cultural figures, and those researching music history.

First of all, it was a DEMO of ideas and sketches thrown down by Manson with the acoustic guitar and little else, in a home studio with a single take, only one microphone pointed, and tapes that in the desert (where they were brought since Manson lived there) got quite damaged.

After being responsible for the Bel Air massacre, Charles Manson, evidently unsatisfied, decides to kill music as well.
