Yawwwn how sleepy... how boring, but is it possible to come across as so flat despite being supported by miraculous production? Is it possible to be so flat even though all the songs are cute? The answer is yes, it is indeed possible as our compatriots Chaoswave show us with this "masterpiece" dated 2006, named "The White Noise Within", they serve us yet another work of modern thrash with some cyber undertones, occasionally accompanied by some guitar phrases reminiscent of the more intense prog metal; making this album a truly ORIGINAL product (seems legit) is the vocal duo of Cristina Scabbia, um no sorry I meant to write Giorgia Fadda and the excellent, very talented and personality-free Fabio Carta. The band is completed by Hernik Rangstrup on guitars, Marco Angioni on bass, and Raphael Saini on drums.
The album, despite being quite varied rhythmically (to the point that someone has drawn a comparison with the first in the class, namely Nevermore and Meshuggah, in my opinion absolutely daring and unfeasible) and full of catchy melodies, suffers terribly from the weight of time, resulting in the end a tiring platter, with weak moments and also extremely repetitive, full of echoes from other bands that have experimented with this field earlier, with decidedly better results. The final result is decidedly inconsistent and alternates with many empty moments, such as the last four tracks, and others moderately successful, among which are the opener, endowed with good riffs, potent, supported by a particularly elaborate and articulated rhythm section; "Mirror" also turns out well, with a modern flavor and some incursions into nu-metal, which manages to be pleasantly listened to, thanks to a good overall effort from the whole band.
The rest, as mentioned, just can't make an impact, furthermore resulting particularly repetitive in the melodic lines, especially those of the bass, which seem to repeat infinitely in all the tracks.
Some have reviewed this album giving it very high scores, but I'm sorry, I just can't bring myself to do the same since there is better, much better out there and you don't even need to turn your ear towards foreign bands, even just in Italy we have better... much better.
