In the Darkness Sit here, next to me,
talk to me about the sky, your travels, and then about poetry.
Tell me before everything disappears, does infinity exist in the darkness.
(from the album "The Cliff Of Suicide" by Gothica)
I introduce this noble Apulian project of C.F.F. and the Venerable Nomad with the magical words of Gothica (an Italian ethereal band), precisely to highlight this close connection between CFF and the intimate world of dreams.
C.F.F. stands for: CONCEPTUAL: we seek in the verb. PHYSICAL: we provoke in the body. ANNOYANCE: we nudge in the intimate.
Creativity, sensitivity, and an extraordinary charisma! In my humble opinion, these are the winning cards of CFF. Since their inception (1999), they have embarked, in the true sense of the word, on a polyhedral artistic journey where wave/rock sounds, adorned with dark hues, merge with enchantments whispered from the fusion of theater and dance. The lyrics of their songs capture and illuminate the soul. The meticulous search for words paints introspective and romantic scenarios. The choice of singing in Italian completes this talented picture.
Now let's talk about the beautiful "Circostanze" (a true celebratory altar of sensitivity): from the cover alone, the band's message is immediately clear: "One discovers themselves transparent, fragile and at the same time sharp, like glass" (C.F.F. and the Venerable Nomad).
The songs collected in this CD represent a kind of diary, of a journey that starts far away, with "Birkenau" (which illuminates stories of a German extermination camp narrated by the voice of a tree supporting the barbed wire), continuing with "Sul se" (daughter of extreme states, between rock vigor and poetic), "Fiumani" (dedicated to the coherence of the great Federico Fiumani, opens the door to an unreal reality, that knows no silence, where pain is cadenced by the rhythms of a sound with strong tones), "Satori" (a true illumination, representing the vigor to drive away the darkness), "Del decoro" (which tells of conflicts conceived by feelings), "Rovisto nei tempi sgretolati" (a melancholic ballad where a dark 1980s atmosphere is breathed), finally reaching "Io sono un albero" (the touching fragility that hides in relationships), "In cima al nulla" (a denunciation of people's indifference and indolence), "Troppa vita mi dai" (the fear that arises in us when we intensely live an encounter), and "Sasso" (which declaims icy introspections).
Another peculiar characteristic of the band is their great impact on the audience, thanks to the textual search and the fusions of music, theater, and dance. To validate this close bond with the audience, they use three different colors: white as the art that cancels, black as the sound of velvet, and red as passion that burns.
I invite all those interested to purchase and jealously preserve over time this Italian jewel of an album. Lastly, I strongly recommend attending their live performances because I am sure that, like me, you will be surrounded by a magical emotional alchemy that will leave you speechless.
