That Cesare Cremonini carries with him a potential talent capable of making him one of the best songwriters of the new generation has been evident for some time. Just think of the previous "Maggese" where Cesare already showcased great skills as a composer, as well as an author. And if we want, we can also mention the very good "Bagùs" which paved the way well after the almost Guinness World Record success that "Squerez" had... the Lunapop album that Cesare founded.

And yes... in the first Lunapop album, a certain "genius" in writing was felt. Considering it was written by a 15-year-old, we can easily place it on the shelf of small masterpieces of Italian music.

But let's get to today. 2008... "the first kiss on the moon." A narrative title and already in this, a radical change from the past is noticeable.

"The first kiss on the moon" is an album with everything inside. This young man's compositional ability is felt in its entirety, without holding back, and each track blends well with one another. An album to listen to from start to finish without interruptions.

"Le sei e ventisei", "il pagliaccio", "Figlio di un Re" "il primo bacio sulla luna" and the single "Dicono di me" are to be considered great masterpieces. Italian music needed novelty, and Cesare knows well how to serve it on a nice varied and perfectly seasoned platter.

Taste of Gaber and Conte in "Ricetta (per curare un uomo solo)". And here Cesare begins to narrate. He no longer talks about himself, he tells stories like the great songwriters of the past. Life stories... simple stories that touch you. Very high compositional sensitivity even in "Qualsiasi cosa", "chiusi in un miracolo" and "l'altra metà" (the three most "love-struck" songs on the album).

Psychedelic Beatles flavors in "Louise", a great opening track and Dylanesque flavors in "dev'essere cosi" and in the already mentioned "Figlio di un Re". And it all closes with "Cercando Camilla" where Cesare's piano composition reaches the sky and where the talent of this great artist is confirmed once again.

For those who do not know him yet, I highly recommend listening to this album. Never banal. Telling stories with simplicity is the most difficult craft. He knows how to do it and manage it greatly. It had been a long time since something like this was heard in Italy. Refined and experimental pop for a singer in continuous growth. The road is now his and it is hoped that he will continue this experimentation in the future. Without ever exaggerating... as he has always managed to do.

Congratulations Cesare!
