The Profile

Ceremony are an American band from Rohnert Park, California, formed in 2005. Early releases delivered blistering hardcore before shifting toward post-punk on Zoo (2012) and The L-Shaped Man (2015) for Matador Records; later they issued In the Spirit World Now (2019).

Known for ferocious live shows, the anthem “Sick,” and a stylistic journey from hardcore punk to post-punk.

Two reviews chart Ceremony’s feral live force and their hardcore-to-post-punk arc. A sold-out Echoplex release show for The L-Shaped Man erupts into stagedives, “Sick” chants, and a Dead Kennedys cover. The Rohnert Park LP review frames their 2010 sound as a sun-blasted return to old-school hardcore. Ross Farrar and Anthony Anzaldo lead with sweat, speed, and attitude.
