This album is bewildering, starting with the cover. Some time ago, I started listening to Cattle Decapitation, but I totally avoided this album. This record has a strange atmosphere and terrible production: the bass is completely overpowered by the drums, which, along with the vocals, are among the few things you can hear. However, the songs are an immense example of technique in Deathgrind. I saw there was already another review of this album, but I don't quite agree with it. Even Cattle themselves admitted they weren't completely satisfied once the recordings were finished. Indeed, it's a bit monotonous and lacks the variety of the subsequent "Humanure" and sometimes tends to repeat itself. However, there are great songs: the opening "Testicular Manslaughter" (one of the few songs that don't deal with animal revenge on humans) is enough, and you'll be trapped in a tornado of distorted sounds and chilling voices. It definitely won't appeal to many of you, though I hope some will like it. Finally, other songs, like the title track, remained in their live shows until a decade ago. Enjoy listening and enjoy life.
