‘'If only this photo could speak‘'

And yes, if that photo could have spoken, nothing would have changed for good Achille.

Achille in this film is played by Carlo Verdone, one of the greatest actors Italian cinema has ever had. His career has been truly brilliant, with films that have made history. Like ‘'Viaggi di Nozze‘', ‘'Gallo Cedrone‘', ‘'Un Sacco Bello‘', just to name a few. But what strikes the most about this artist is his extreme simplicity in portraying the characters of his stories. Anyone can identify with and find inspiration from his characters. He manages to represent the most common human problems, from loves to betrayals. In his career, he has always succeeded in conveying many emotions, but above all, examples of life. Like this very beautiful film.

The film is called ‘'Il Mio Miglior Nemico‘', and it was truly a great success.

The story is about Achille, a wealthy man, director of a chain of hotels, who loses everything in a short time because of a young man named Orfeo (Silvio Muccino). Achille's life will change radically, and he will eventually be forced to team up with his 'best enemy'. Orfeo discovers that Achille had a mistress, and blackmails him with some photos. The photos are sent to Achille's home, and he loses everything. After this event, the film becomes a bit more tedious; in fact, a too predictable part begins. Orfeo and Achille together set out to find the latter's daughter. They will travel around Europe and eventually find her.

Certainly not Verdone’s most beautiful film, but still an excellent film. The story is well-conceived, but not the entire film is at the same level. By now, I think good old Verdone has run out of characters to play, but in any case, he remains a great.
