Carl Reiner (March 20, 1922 – June 29, 2020) was an American comedian, actor, writer and director. He created The Dick Van Dyke Show, collaborated with Mel Brooks on the "2000 Year Old Man" routines, and directed films including Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid.

Directed Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (1982) starring Steve Martin; the film uses archival footage of 1940s noir stars. Michael Chapman is credited for cinematography on the film and Edith Head for costumes (noted in reviews as her last film).
