The Profile

Carl Palmer’s PM was a short-lived project led by English drummer Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake & Palmer; Atomic Rooster), releasing the album 1:PM and related singles around 1980. Palmer later toured with a guitar–bass–drums trio reinterpreting ELP material, as reflected in the Modena 2007 live review.

Founded and led by Carl Palmer (born 1950, England). Publicly associated with progressive rock. The reviewed 2007 Modena show features Paul Bielatowicz (guitar) and Stuart Clayton (bass) performing ELP staples such as The Barbarian, Tarkus, Trilogy and Fanfare for the Common Man, plus Palmer’s L.A. Nights and solos; audience was about 40; ticket price €33.

A chance find led the reviewer to Carl Palmer’s trio show in Modena (2007), praised as one of their finest concert experiences. With Paul Bielatowicz (guitar) and Stuart Clayton (bass), the set reimagines ELP classics with a powerful, prog‑metal edge. Highlights include Fanfare for the Common Man, Tarkus, The Barbarian, Tank and Palmer’s L.A. Nights, played to a small crowd of about 40. Palmer’s energy and professionalism are lauded; the Bucharest DVD is recommended for a taste of the trio.
