LA RECENSIONE

You certainly know this Caribou. It's Manitoba. Yes, that very Dan Snaith, forced by a fool to change his name. To hell with copyright. But we like him just the same. The Milk Of Human Kindness is his latest CD. Mind-blowing. This man is a genius to me. That Up In Flames sounded so perfect it seemed alien. And the music of our Caribou seems to come from another world. The album grows with each listen. The vibrations become intense, the rhythm compelling.

The single opens (they aired the video on Extra) Yeti. Music box sounds intermingle with pauses and frightening climaxes. A Final Warning makes you jump off the couch. You feel a shiver rising to your brain. Bees is the masterpiece of a masterpiece album. It shamelessly references Neu! without neglecting the choral parts. The album flows slowly between long tracks and brief instrumental interludes (even with certain intensity like Hands First). Caribou (Manitoba if you prefer) is a perfect blend of the warm northern electronica (think Royksopp and Mum) mixed with the new German movement (think Notwist and Lali Puna) and as a side (but no less important) artists like Tarawater, Khonnor or The! Go Find. The album, in short, gathers the best of the electro-alternative landscape. Forty minutes and twelve seconds of pure enjoyment. A must-have.

Tracklist Lyrics Videos

01   Yeti (05:01)

His greasy fingers strung together and stretching 'cross the sky
A skunk that scratches and is leather a sign from up on high
And shivering we cling together and watch it pass us by
For falling like a spiny feather the tears begin to cry.

Twisting turning, bodies burning look up from where they lie
To see the stars and heaven's journey flashing 'cross the sky
You hold my arm and wait forever and look me in the eye
For falling like a spiny feather the tears begin to cry.

His greasy fingers strung together and stretching cross the sky
A skunk that scratches and is leather a sign from up on high
And shivering we cling together and watch it pass us by
For falling like a spiny feather the tears begin to cry.
