Unclassifiable is this project by the Apulian duo, Donato Epero and Gasparre Sammartano, named "Cannibal Movie", a tribute to cult films like "Cannibal Holocaust" that in the late 70s, early 80s, garnered success among fans of Italian splatter.

They debuted in 2012 with the mini "Avorio" and right from the track titles, "TESTE MOZZATTE", "MANGIATI VIVI", "FAME", you get the sense that you're dealing with a truly unique album, light years away from market logic.

Composed of a sinister organ treated with various effects, drums, and various percussions, "AVORIO" is a delirious journey, a psychedelic trip gone wrong, made of tribal and hypnotic rhythms and an organ played by a psychopath, which is not necessarily a bad thing, often at very high volumes, creating a disturbing soundtrack of a visionary, primitive, and violent world that in the duo's intentions wants to recreate the bloody atmospheres breathed in cult movies set in the Amazonian forests inhabited by cannibal tribes.

Honestly, it takes a lot of imagination to grasp their visions.

I may lack imagination, but I simply feel a rudimentary psychedelic trance linked to the most primitive German school space rock. Undoubtedly, it exerts a strong allure, but in the long run, the formula shows evident compositional limits.

They have subsequently produced a second work, "Mondo Music", which I have not yet heard, and I hope they have perfected and expanded the sounds of their musical visions because the basic idea is good and very original.
