In the early works of the nineties, the tracks bore horrifying titles such as "A Skull Full of Maggots", "Butchered at Birth", "Addicted to Vaginal Skin", "Hammer Smashed Face", "Stripped, Raped and Strangled", "I Cum Blood" (I prefer to leave the macabre and insane translation to you).
More than twenty-five years have passed and the masters of Brutal Gore are still among us.
Same ferocity, same hyper-violent attitude, same frenzy in the sonic assault led by the two "Slayer-like" guitars.
They slam their fourteenth album in your face: a condensed mass of barbaric, cynical, merciless, colossal violence. An enormous force, fearing no rivals.
Extremely tight rhythms for yet another infernal "fresco" by a band that is legendary. Sulfurous, primordial, apocalyptic Splatter Death Metal.
This time the track titles are less offensive than in the past. But the themes addressed are the usual; a random line suffices for me: "‘decaying torn off penises which the men were made to chew and swallow". Again, I refrain from translating.
Repugnant cover; then come the slashes, the blows. A sequence of threatening, dark, relentless tracks. Avalanche of blast beats; a growling roar that tears apart.
They don’t give up, they don’t slow down, they don’t sell out. It’s been like this, since 1988.
A masterpiece, one of the many by Cannibal Corpse...ONLY ONE WILL DIE...
