What should one expect from the thirteenth studio album by the five butchers from Buffalo?
Violence and sonic massacre, you would answer, all seasoned with Fisher's ferocious screams and a sprinkle of sick and obsessive melodies.
The talented corpse/bassist known as Alex Webster stated before the album's release: "More blast beats, some truly dark guitar melodies."
Alright then! Let's hit the Play button and dive into this new work branded Webster&Co.
The opener “High Velocity Impact Splatter,” unsurprisingly, presents speeds too high to be properly assimilated by a healthy and sentient human being.
But by now it's known, Cannibal is not a band for ordinary people, who find in a simple catchy chorus unparalleled satisfaction.
The new discographic abortion from Our Guys essentially presents minimal but effective (and efficient) changes at the level of sound, which exponentially increase the potential that the historic band offers in the studio.
George's growl becomes more cavernous and deep, as do his screams, much fewer compared to albums like The Wretched Spawn (2004), but much more exasperated and lacerating.
Tracks like “Sadistic Embodiment” (am I the only one whose singing reminds a lot of Make Them Suffer?!), “Funeral Cremation,” “Headlong Into Carnage,” and the title track only present the listener with a band in great shape, that has finally managed to shake off a large part of the monotony they were somewhat accused of in the past, especially in albums like Bloodthirst and Evisceration Plague.
In no time, you find yourself in your room doing frenzied headbanging, and it's precisely at that moment that you realize there are only two certainties in life: death and Cannibal Corpse, even if sometimes these two concepts resemble each other more than one might think.
By now it's a given: the cannibal corpse led by Webster, alongside prominent names in the Death scene like Dying Fetus, Suffocation, Decapitated, Autopsy, and Cattle Decapitation, remains one of the most significant and important Brutal realities for a genre that still today captivates millions of heavy music enthusiasts around the world (yours truly is an example).
So what to say at this point?
An album absolutely recommended to every genre lover, to be bought without question, inserted into the player, and dissected as if it were a decaying corpse.
Nothing more, now it's up to the music to speak for itself...
… and to the fans to support it always as it should be!
Brutal hammer smashing you fucking face!

"Cannibal Corpse fulfills this role concerning Death Metal by producing an extreme, technical, and enjoyable album to listen to."
"If you love the genre, buy it sight unseen; if you have prejudices against the band, give it a listen, who knows, you might change your mind..."
