These Candiria are from New York. And you can tell.
These Candiria know their stuff, whether it’s metal, hardcore, jazz, or hip hop. And you can tell.
These Candiria have created an album that, in my opinion, is a milestone in that genre where all existing music merges, usually called post-core.
The CD opens with the title track. And right away you notice how easy it is for these musicians to change rhythm countless times in a song. Meshugghian tempos blend perfectly with an exceptional drum for precision and technique and with a singer who effortlessly transitions from Hatebreed-style hardcore to old school hip hop.
It's hard to find weak points in an album of such beauty. The only downside might be the track "Words from the lexicon," entirely stark hip hop, perhaps even too old school.
The last track is a very long jam between drum'n'bass and jazz parts. A fitting conclusion to an album that will bring joy to anyone with the open-mindedness to recognize the beauty of any genre played with passion and skill.
