THE LONG WAIT BY: PAOLO "SNOWGOOSE" COSSO
Finally, the day has arrived.
After 10 years of hopes, sometimes fueled by good news and other times dashed, comes the confirmation of the great return to the stage of the great Andy Latimer with his camels.
The comeback is scheduled for a series of dates between mid-October and the beginning of November. As usual, Italy is not included, and the shows are divided between England, the Netherlands, and Germany. I organize for the date of 01.11.2013, the last concert scheduled in Fulda, in northern Germany, and since November 1st is a holiday in Italy, it does not create further work difficulties for me. By early September, I have everything necessary to begin waiting for what will be the C-DAY. Flight ticket Genoa-Munich, the subsequent train segment, and of course the ticket for the EVENT in the front row (WOW). The wait is long, but time slowly passes, and the reviews and videos related to the first dates speak of "Amazing Show" and "Sold Out". The adrenaline builds, and finally the fateful day arrives.
The adventure begins at 6:45. I arrive in Munich and with the proverbial German precision, I take the train perfectly on time, which takes me to Fulda in about 3 hours. The day is meteorologically gloomy, but the weather is the least of my worries; my mind is already projected to 8:00 PM. After leaving my luggage at the hotel, I take a tour of the beautiful town, which features a pedestrian area with shops and various shopping centers, and around it, many testimonies of baroque art with churches and monuments. The chosen place for the show is the Orangerie, a hall in the beautiful Maritim Hotel set in a stunning park. I reach the place around 7:00 PM and already notice the presence of many people crowding the merchandise stand. The hall accommodates about 800 seats, which will naturally be occupied. People keep arriving, and I will later meet many fans from various nations like Poland, Sweden, Spain, the Netherlands, etc.
At 8:00 PM, the show begins, featuring in the first part the full performance of their undisputed masterpiece "The Snow Goose," rearranged and recorded a few months ago for the occasion. As the band enters the stage, everyone stands up, and there are more than five minutes of applause. Everything is perfect, and as always, Andy is exceptional. After a short break, the second part follows with some must-haves from their repertoire. It starts with an electro-acoustic version of "Never Let Go" and then moves to the poignant "Song Within A Song". The enthusiasm is through the roof, and it continues with the touching "Hour Candle", then "Echoes", "Watching The Bobbins", "Tell Me" and finally "Fox Hill" and the wonderful version of "For Today". After the standing ovation, they return to the stage to close with a song that is never missing, the fabulous "Lady Fantasy," which provokes endless applause.
The long Wait is at the end, and I return home with a wonderful feeling of something great, not before having exchanged a few words with the band members who are exquisitely available for photos and autographs. A long journey that delivered emotions and lots of good music, and now the hope of a new album and a new tour in 2014 is not so far away.
NEVER LET GO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
