THE REVIEW

Surely, you can say anything about her, but you certainly cannot make any objections to the fact that Cadaveria has always been a very particular "lady" and, at the same time, widely extroverted in front of the contemporary metal scene. The Cadaveria project dates back many years, before which, as we well know, she had a significant stint with the more famous Opera IX, with whom she produced several gothic metal works of notable compositional and commercial value. Cadaveria was born in 2001 and by 2007 they reached their third full-length, having previously carried forward the prophecy according to their way of doing gothic/heavy metal and receiving on one hand fierce and superb criticism, and on the other, sincere appreciation.

"In Your Blood" starts with "100.000 Faces", a song that could appear to many as almost crossover, a sensation that, however, is partially blocked by the leader's voice, almost wanting to mark the stunted rhythms and a rather evocative refrain, carefully using the dual voices that prove to be clean and scream as well as overlapped. In "The Dream" the guitar is a sort of metallic adrenaline rush in contrast with the sweetness of the keyboard melody in the background, and Cadaveria's clean voice, halfway through the piece, returns in all its grit and aggressiveness. Of "The Dream" a video clip has also been composed, in which Cadaveria is lost in a metropolitan tunnel and adamantly tries to get out of it. Pleasant and highly fitting were the camera shots and the mixing to create a video clip that, in my opinion, was one of the most sensational and exciting of last year. After "The Dream" we deal with the ferocious "The Anagram", where the guitars play their role in a sort of medieval gallop necessary to escape the evil of past mistakes. A video clip has also been shot for this track, highly inadvisable for particularly sensitive types due to scenes that manage to encapsulate in about 2 minutes sporadic violence, ferocity, and homicidal aggressiveness.

After these songs the album begins to lose its compositional brilliance, once again finding that peak quality only in the final part of the work in pieces like "Laying in Black" and "Queen of Forgotten", as if to assure us that Cadaveria is still there, alive and kicking, and will be for many years to come. "Laying in Black" is particularly dense in its bass lines and has the merit of creating whispered and unusual atmospheres, while "Queen of Forgotten" expresses the sick aura that so slowly emanates from "In Your Blood". An album I would recommend to be purchased by true fans of this band, to those who have followed Cadaveria’s works even in Opera IX and to all who love the Italian gothic model and want to support a band that could break through, in a few years, if not internationally then at least at a European level.
