What is Italian indie? A musical genre where its players compete to have the worst name (Dente, I Cani, just to name a couple), a gathering for nostalgics, a sort of contest to determine who is the oldest young person on the scene (beards, '70s glasses, old-school high school teacher attire, and the list goes on)?!

A question I will probably never answer, but it doesn’t matter: here are myriad bands that seem to go crazy for this kind of thing. Not least the Cabrera, very young (outwardly) and somewhat dated (inwardly), who in this EP titled "Nessun rimorso" try to make their statement. How?! With a sound that overall I even manage to like, noisy and genuine in some parts, more melodic and sugary in others. Let's say the right mix, because on one hand, their more "transgressive" side comes out, and on the other here they are returning to the fold with an innocuous rock that will surely win the hearts of the most sugary indie rockers.

Recording that for obvious reasons acts like a direct take (it's certainly not a bad thing, indeed, in other contexts – see hardcore for example – it’s a sort of must) and off they go, with five tracks that in my view still have a bland flavor and still show those spots typical of those at their debut. In all this, here is then the focal point on which I still haven't been able to express myself: the voice and the lyrics. The former, shouted and ungraceful as few, does manage to keep the listener's attention high, but then becomes detested after two/three tracks, it gets to your brain so much (it’s probably age, what can you do). Regarding the lyrics, honestly, I am not a professional writer, I am not a professor, so I simply say that I cannot interpret them (let's even talk about ignorance, it fits) and if then you give me titles like "Lasciate che i cervi mangino i resti" "Fantasmi nel frigorifero" and "La differenza tra una foca e una sirena" you surely don't come to meet me. In conclusion, what can I say, Cabrera believe in it and maybe they'll even become stars of the national indie scene, but personally, I just didn't understand this "Nessun rimorso" and I hope I'm the only one, otherwise, it's trouble. Talking about post-rock and post-hardcore (?!?!) in the bio is perhaps a bit bold, as of those genres there's very little here, maybe it would be much simpler to just talk about rock, essentially everything starts from there, right?!
