LA RECENSIONE

The first work of Burzum, the one who killed his guitarist because he went crazy, is not a masterpiece more intense than Filosofem in terms of sound, more true Norwegian black metal and heavier even in the voice, but it is still an excellent glacial album, cold as the Norway of werewolves. The most powerful songs on the first album are "My Journey to the Stars," a heavy neck-breaking song, "War" with very thrash metal riffs, the initial track, the second one, and "Ea, Lord of the Deeps," on Aske instead "Dominus Sathanas," the final track. Surely this album is an excellent glacial album, it may not be a masterpiece like Filosofem, but it’s a good, very hard debut album, so not suitable for everyone, it requires attentive listening. The songs do not speak of Satan but of Norway, trolls, Odin. Burzum's voice here is the voice of a werewolf, stuff that in Filosofem will be that of a kind of zombie. I recommend it to understand the evolution of the Count. Bye

Summary by Bot

Burzum's debut album is a cold and powerful Norwegian black metal work that predates the more famous Filosofem. It features heavy thrash riffs, raw vocals likened to a werewolf, and mythological themes rather than satanic ones. Though not considered a masterpiece, it remains an excellent and intense introduction to Burzum's music. This album demands attentive listening and captures the harsh, glacial atmosphere of Norway perfectly.

Burzum plays great music, and if the fans of Mayhem understood this, it would be hard to share Burzum’s ideas.

This album is not the Count’s masterpiece, which will be hvis lyset tar oss, where divinity will be touched.
