THE REVIEW

The characters of Jane Austen's classic tale concerning the intricate relationships between lovers from different social classes in nineteenth-century England find themselves facing a new challenge: an invasion of the living dead.

And although I was initially skeptical, the film works, and it works very well! Among the actors, Matt Smith definitely stands out, excellently fitting into the role of Mr. Collins, and the female leads, including Lily James, Lena Headey, and others, also perform well.

The couple formed by Sam Riley and James is very in tune, and this brings great things to the film. This crazy horror contamination with the classic themes of Victorian literature is destined to become a cult.

Among the film's problems is a screenplay with a patchy feel, as if at some point the writers didn't know which direction to take with the narrative, and great actors confined to unimportant roles that make them seem almost caged.

The direction works well, though it sometimes feels a bit mechanical. The music is good but not thrilling.

In summary, the film flows and doesn't bore, the special effects are good but not excellent, after all, it's a big B-movie, the film is independent so you shouldn't expect a blockbuster.

Judging all of this, fans of the PPZ genre will surely like it, write what you think in the comments (feel free to insult me)!

Summary by Bot

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies successfully merges classic Victorian literature with zombie horror. Strong performances by Matt Smith, Lily James, and others elevate the film. Narrative inconsistencies and restrained roles hinder its full potential. Direction and music are adequate but not outstanding. Overall, a fun B-movie that fans of the genre will appreciate.
