The Burden Is Burning are the newcomers in a scene—the Italian metalcore scene—that nowadays has an overwhelming number of followers. Nonetheless, these guys have energy and a can-do spirit in them, traits that have allowed them to release their debut EP "Make us live" less than a year after their inception. The new US wave (led by Miss May I, Attack Attack, Attila…) has given them many stylistic cues, from the choice of sounds (boosted to the extreme) to the way the songs are vocally interpreted (divided between melodic, screamo, and growl), leading them to be, if not on par with many national colleagues at least close enough.

The five tracks of this "Make us live" are a perfect representation of what's trending across the ocean—explosive sound, frontal vocal attack, and lastly—as already mentioned—a studio production that is meticulous in every detail. All good, then, but what seems to be missing in Burden Is Burning at the moment is courage: they are undoubtedly very skilled in completing the assignment, but breakdowns, electro inserts, and most of the solutions they adopted were unveiled years ago, certainly not today. If musically this mini has its reason (perhaps excluding the hefty use of breakdowns, which could become exhausting over time), what they'll need to work hard on in view of their debut album is the vocal section and specifically the melodics, the weakest part of the three. Growl and screamo travel at decidedly high levels, the clean vocals, on the other hand, struggle to emerge, a worrying fact considering that the central parts of the songs are focused precisely on them.

In conclusion, we are faced with a mini and a band in full growth phase (as is logical), with lights and shadows in tow. We therefore await the real album to get a more realistic and comprehensive idea of the project.
