THE REVIEW

"The day of wrath" is the first album by the historic Italian thrash/black metal band Bulldozer, dated 1985. The record set a new standard of violence and speed not only for Italy but also for Europe.

The lineup consisted of AC Wild on vocals and bass, Andy Panigada on guitar, and Rob Cabrini on drums. At the time, it was rare to encounter such aggressive sounds, considering the thrash movement had just begun. The sound was raw and dirty, in perfect Venom, Slayer, or Motorhead style, thanks also to the production by Algy Ward of Tank. Their sound was a mix between the almost punk speed of Motorhead and the passion for hellish lyrics, the grime of Venom's vocals and guitars.

The album opens with "The Exorcism", a Latin chant that leads into pure violence. However, the most representative tracks are the single "Fallen Angels" and the mighty "The Great Deceiver", characterized by sharp guitars and the scabrous voice of AC Wild. Following, we find tracks with doom rhythms "Welcome Death" and the macabre "Insurrection Of The Living Dead". The last track is also rather ritualistic "Endless Funeral" where you can hear an eerie voice in the background. The only different piece is the amusing "Whiskey Time" which starts with a long drum solo and then transitions into a fast-paced track.

This album is one of Bulldozer's most important, recommended for those who want to know the true origins of Italian thrash/black metal, which later in Italy would become very popular thanks to bands like Schizo, Necrodeath, and many others.
