Everyone's against Bugo. Bugo is against everyone. A long and exhausting struggle between the public and the artist, between journalist and musician, among colleagues, between fans and detractors.

This is what one could witness on Bugo's social profiles between 2014 and the beginning of 2018, a singer-songwriter as loved by his fanbase as he was attacked by some fellow musicians, ignored by journalists, and despised by many former supporters. This was partly due to numerous style changes in his music and criticisms of various singer-songwriters and bands in the Italian indie-pop scene, certain music magazines that, in his opinion, did not acknowledge him, and, last but not least, his label.
In 2017, he broke with Carosello Records, formed a new band to support his live shows with which he played a short tour announcing a "return to rock," and at the beginning of 2018, he deleted his Facebook profile.

The release of "RockBugo" was almost unexpected by most of his audience. Created during 2017, "RockBugo" is the 9th studio album but does not contain any new tracks; instead, it features already released songs re-recorded for the occasion with new arrangements.
The rock is the foundation of the entire project, just as it has been the basis of a myriad of musical genres that have taken over the world in the last 70 years.

A "return" of Bugo? It would be the umpteenth, but it's not quite so: with this album, Bugo seems to say "I am still here, I have always been here."
And, with a strong and clear, sometimes ungraceful voice, he seems to add "I've cut my hair, I've cut the styles and the labels, and now I know this is who I am, this is my music, take it or, especially, leave it." No more insecurity in relationships, direct and determined, Bugo once again made a painful cut with a past that was weighing him down.

"RockBugo" is a snapshot of this historical moment in his career and life, where at 45, he is grappling with the difficulty of rejecting success if it goes in the opposite direction of his aspirations, but also with the beauty of freedom in the music world and the responsibilities that come with it.
