This time, don't be misled.
The voice of Buffseeds is not the now widespread typical British falsetto (see JJ72 or Muse), it is indeed a woman: Kieran Scragg.
The English critics, always quick to spot the new symbols of the now declining Brit-pop, introduce them to us as the revelation of 2003. And indeed, all the elements are there from their hit single: Sparkle Me.
Just take a look at the producers who are well acquainted with pathos made in U.K., boasting credentials like Coldplay and Idlewild.
The album is excellently played and alternates, as tradition demands, romantic ballads like Sunlight and more edgy tracks like Casino, always maintaining a captivating melodic line.
If you were disappointed by the monotony of JJ72, or troubled by the (yet wonderful) frenzy of Muse, or want a gateway to listening to Coldplay or early Radiohead, then pop "The Picture Show" into your player.
The Buffseeds have chosen the right path; now they just need to follow it. And that is the hardest part.
