LA RECENSIONE

Bruno Martino, what an artist, what class, a complete artist who, after an international experience as a pianist, returned to Italy in the late 50s as a performer and made millions of Italians fall in love with his Jazz-style melodies. Like few others (Arigliano, Dorelli, Bongusto, Pericoli, Buscaglione), he is considered a crooner, those intimate singers inspired by American Jazz singers, always or almost always interpreting love songs.

The album "Dedicato A Te" begins with one of his most famous songs, the beautiful "E La Chiamano Estate," not to be confused with his 1960 song "Estate." "E La Chiamano Estate" is a Pop track with hints of Jazz that did not find success upon its release but did so many years later. The album continues with a singer-songwriter love ballad, "Mai E Poi Mai," a very simple and romantic song, below many of Bruno Martino's songs. Moving on to a samba "Ragazza D'Ipanema," a cover of the Brazilian "Garota De Ipanema," a very cute Latin track, previously recorded by Caterina Valente. "Baciami Per Domani" is another love song by Martino, very light but at the same time very deep. The short side A closes with the song "Dimmi Che Lo Sai," a bossa nova, more 70s than 60s style, with hints of swing that closes side A quite well.

Side B opens with "Ora..." a track similar to the last one listened to, more energetic and lively than the entire album. It's time for "Fai Male," a song, in my opinion, beautiful and immense, with a very beautiful love lyric and a musical part accompanied by a piano, all somewhat swing and romantic. Martino continues with a Beat song, more youthful, "Prova A Darmi Un Bacio," written by Martino himself and Amurri. Then there's a track that greatly resembles Fred Bongusto, "Soli Tra La Gente," a melodic song, nice but nothing more. The album, somewhat anonymous, closes with the song "Ci Rivedremo," a love track similar to the previous love songs, not very convincing, closing an album that is beautiful in some aspects and not so in others.

However, there are very beautiful, even immense tracks that remind us of another great forgotten artist!
