"Never would've have met my friends if not for satellites, Yeah I'll cuff her even if she do not suck me right, Always planned to be a rapper when I failed at life, Luckily professor failed me at the proper time" That's what one of the members of this absurd collective will yell in the second chapter of the trilogy, exactly not in this album, but I think it's the best way to introduce Brockhampton on Debaser.

But who are these Brockhampton? A group of friends, as mentioned above, met on a blog about Kanye (God) West, with frontman Kevin Abstract, who has already released solo music, aiming to form a group, or rather a band... and what's a band without instruments? A Boyband, like One Direction, the cool thing is the genre they propose, alternative hip hop with very daring productions and especially a unique attitude for the American scene; the only thing I could compare them to is the late (in my opinion) Odd Future of Tyler and company, otherwise there's nothing quite like it in American hip hop.

A frontman, African American, openly gay who also aims, with his rhymes, to represent a whole "queer" movement that certainly doesn't find support in black culture, especially in rap. And the other members, three "white" guys, Joba, Matt, and Bearface (the angel), rappers and often singers with quite impressive performances. I highlight their ethnicity only because I'm not used to seeing let's say "mixed" hip hop groups, and then there's Merlyn, Dom, and Ameer. These are the members who appear in the lyrics; the supergroup also includes producers, managers, directors, etc. This bunch of characters gathered in a house to live together 24/7 to produce three albums in a year. The result is pure chaos, an album that seems like a compilation, but an amazing one, they can do everything from "death grips"-like tracks to indie ballads, simply adorable in some points, terrifyingly hardcore in others, autotune, vocal pitch, singing, all together and in the end, everyone will find something to appreciate.

This album is the first episode of a trilogy that captivated me, the most chaotic of the three, the least solid but probably the most fun.

Rare gem, my friends
