LA RECENSIONE

Do you consider her the typical fake of Pop, like One Direction or Backstreet Boys, or someone who really had the skills? I certainly don't consider her the female Michael Jackson, but neither do I see her as a commercial product without substance.

Great attitude in singing, making a song, a chorus. The album sold twenty-six million copies, and what caused "scandal," if you can call it that, was the fact that she declared herself a virgin, despite being a teenager and appearing in videos in a very provocative way.

The first single, "Baby One More Time," was a worldwide success, reaching number one in fifteen different countries. The track is truly exceptional, with a really powerful beat, and a chorus that sticks in your head! The third single, "(You Drive Me) Crazy," is also incredibly powerful, with an explosive chorus, and even some Rock tendencies, with a very catchy guitar at the end. The rest of the album alternates between highly catchy, deep tracks, with a pleasant melody, and ballads like "The Beat Goes On." Rolling Stone dedicates a cover to her, the phenomenon becomes global, and critics are divided. It's certainly not the masterpiece of the decade, but neither is it the typical Pop trinket with attractive videos and little substance.

If Pop is your genre, well, it's worth a listen. After all, singing "Baby One More Time" in your room, with the stereo volume turned up high, can't be bad!
