LA RECENSIONE

What to do to be the photocopy of a thousand other photocopies?! Take some metalcore and make it as badass as possible with abundant doses of dub bases, synths, and so on. You all know (or almost know) what the result is, and honestly, it’s always a great effort to believe that even today there are new talents ready to propose themselves in this overworked genre. "Inhale Exhale," unfortunately, is not that grind masterpiece from '98 by Nasum (RIP), but rather the business card of the Piedmontese band Breathe Me In, an album that I frankly found totally out of place from the first to the last track, starting with - as said before - an artistic proposal that has now said everything. A pity because fundamentally the quintet - although very young - certainly has a basic idea of how to make music, which is highlighted by the perhaps most versatile track of the whole lot, "Another Story." Regarding the remaining five tracks (which include the classic intro), you know the formula well: overly effected vocals, a heavy use of electronics, and a sound that combines modern metal elements with others typically core (see breakdown). If you love this type of proposal, here’s a new name to follow; otherwise, you can just move on.

Summary by Bot

Breathe Me In's Inhale Exhale tries to blend metalcore with dub and synth elements but feels unoriginal and out of place. Despite some musical skill, most of the album falls into overused genre clichés. The track 'Another Story' shows versatility, but the album overall fails to stand out. Fans of the genre may find something to appreciate, but others might want to look elsewhere.
