The Profile

Boysetsfire is an American post-hardcore band from Newark, Delaware, formed in 1994. Known for politically charged lyrics and a melodic hardcore edge, their key releases include The Day the Sun Went Out (1997), After the Eulogy (2000), Tomorrow Come Today (2003), The Misery Index: Notes From the Plague Years (2006), While A Nation Sleeps (2013), and a self-titled album (2015). They disbanded in 2007 and reunited in 2010.

Fronted by vocalist Nathan Gray. Origin: Newark, Delaware (USA). Breakup in 2007, reunion in 2010. Recognized for impassioned live shows and overtly political themes; While A Nation Sleeps features excerpts from Charlie Chaplin’s speech in The Great Dictator.

Two upbeat DeBaser reviews praise Boysetsfire’s politicized post-hardcore. While A Nation Sleeps is hailed as a seamless comeback, fueled by Nathan Gray’s impassioned vocals and a Chaplin-speech thread. The Misery Index blends high-energy emocore with experiments like strings and ska-core. Lyrics straddle politics and inner turmoil, with memorable lines and hopeful undercurrents.
