The Profile

American stoner/doom band from Wisconsin, formed in 1995 and known for massive fuzz, sludge undertones, and cannabis-themed lyrics. Albums include Stash, Gateway, Amerijuanican, and the 2021 return Weedsconsin.

Origin: Wisconsin (as noted in the Weedsconsin review). Style: stoner/doom with sludge and psychedelic shades, often compared to Black Sabbath. Gateway (2002) is cited as a landmark and tied to Relapse. After a long pause post-2005’s Amerijuanican, the band returned with Weedsconsin, released on April 20, 2021.

Four reviews salute Bongzilla’s stoner-doom heft: Gateway is treated like a genre monolith, Stash as a fuzzed, sample-laced bulldozer, and Amerijuanican the best since Gateway. Weedsconsin (April 20, 2021) marks a calm, authoritative return with space rock passages and seventies shades. Themes of cannabis, massive fuzz, and Sabbath lineage run throughout.
