American experimental/psychedelic band formed by Mark Kramer and Ann Magnuson, active in the late 1980s–early 1990s.

Bongwater was formed by Mark Kramer (aka Kramer) and Ann Magnuson. Kramer founded the Shimmy Disc label. Ann Magnuson worked as a performer and actress and was involved with Club 57; she appeared in films such as Desperately Seeking Susan (as noted in the reviews).

Two enthusiastic DeBaser reviews praise Bongwater's hybrid psychedelic/experimental sound and the charismatic performances of Ann Magnuson and Mark Kramer. The reviews focus on the albums The Power of Pussy and Double Bummer, describing a mix of lo-fi, dadaist performance and diverse genre references. Overall reception on DeBaser is highly positive.

Of the classic song form, only miserable scraps remain attached to a rhythmic bone: voices that now whisper, now proclaim on the radio, now explode in beastly screams, now stutter in unknown languages, distorted, sped up, slowed down, filtered, dirtied, abused, and then spread at the feet of a sonorous Tower of Babel Psychedelic-garage-kraut-gothic-post hardcore-noise-experimental rock.
