<<Good morning... and in case I don't see you, good afternoon, good evening, and good night!>> (quote from "The Truman Show"). Today it's already good evening, and I must say: long time no see (here I am again, unfortunately for you)! I have followed the so-called novelties with less and less interest: truthfully, I haven't encountered many, but in the end, the search for normality prevailed. Well, in a year where we've had too many surprising bombshells, literally, I pointed randomly at something that wouldn’t surprise me too much (besides, it’s an already reviewed CD...) and that would give me that sense of tranquility and déjà vu.
Who knows if we will agree, but honestly, that's not what matters. Whether you like it or not, Bon Jovi have been in the race for over 30 years and have sold over 130 million records. Of course, the troubled split with Richie Sambora creates a sort of domino effect the entire time listening to their latest work "Burning Bridges", and despite all the positive feedback on the title track, it seems to me the worst piece, and fortunately, it's the last one, which I always skip.
So you might deduce that I didn’t like this CD too much and actually there's a bit of truth in that statement, but only a bit. Finally, I’m not looking for something new that could be miraculous, that fills me with never-before-felt sensations, that opens a world of sounds and LSD-like images, I can finally say that I have found what I was looking for and expected from serious professionals; sounds, words, guitar twists, lead vocals, and choruses that comfort me: Bon Jovi are here, they are themselves, for better or for worse, nothing more, perfectly recognizable and even a bit pissed off, but they are here.
In short, friends, you will never listen to them, I really don’t think so, but at the end of the story, the return to normality is not always so trivial and predictable, for them it’s the end of an era, but who knows, perhaps even the dawn of a rebirth.
