After a live masterpiece comes a studio one. Seger is going through a golden period and has learned well from the experience gained over the years to brand his music with his clear and unmistakable style. It's unmatchable, his innate ability to tell stories of life and social conflicts seen, not from the height of a star, but from a simple American man.
The listener was still unclogging their ears from the racket of "Live Bullet" when in the same year Capitol released "Night Moves." Seger has found the perfect partnership with the Silver Bullet Band, and this inevitably reflects in the songs played and sung with wise mastery. As usual, our rocker combines lively tracks like the damned blues of "The Fire Down Below", the rock gallop "Sunburst", or the catchy "Come To Poppa", with the more relaxed ones, like the same "Night Moves" and especially the sad "Mainstreet", one of Seger's most beautiful songs.
"Night Moves" is not only an essential record in Seger's career (it will yield a platinum record) but it is also essential for my collection, of which I am very fond.
