Born in Detroit on May 6, 1945, Bob Seger is a singer-songwriter who is relatively unknown when we consider the quality of the songs he has produced throughout his career, or even if we compare him to other more acclaimed artists who are probably less talented. It's well-known that in life, it's not just talent that matters, but also luck and destiny have their roles to play. With a rocker’s voice, powerful and gritty, Seger offers a roots style that clearly references the Midwestern culture of the States.
After a handful of poorly selling albums, despite some successful singles, in 1975 the Detroit singer-songwriter made a real leap forward by recording and releasing Beautiful Loser.
If the previous albums were lacking a bit more courage, in Beautiful Loser we find everything the artist has at his disposal. Aggressive yet refined rock, meticulously crafted in "Black Night" and "Katmandu", softer tracks with atmospheres artistically created in "Jody Girl", "Momma", "Sailing Nights", "Fine Memory", or the unmatched rock anthem of the title track make it an unforgettable album.
It’s not Seger’s best work, but the first in a long series of gems...
