After three consecutive masterpieces, a backlash should be inevitable. It is not so. The 80s arrive, and Seger opens the new decade with what will be his finest album of the decade. The sound of these records is as always extraordinary, but in "Against The Wind" compared to the previous ones, there is more of a sense of freedom encoded and transmitted with lighter and more calibrated harmonies.

Songs that captivate from the first listen, simple but never trivial, sweet without ever being too sugary. At least four are among the most beautiful of his entire glorious career ("You'll Accomp'ny Me", "No Man's Land", "Fire Lake", "Against The Wind") but the whole album once again confirms this great artist's talent.

The cover is magnificent and well reflects the content of the work. Seger will still make successful tracks, but in "Against The Wind" he shows a creative and interpretative sensitivity that at this level he will no longer be able to repeat.

With "Against the Wind", considered by Seger himself as his best work, he shifts the focus even more towards melody creating songs with strong romantic appeal that nevertheless never fall into the sentimental but continue to have that rock trademark.

Seger remains a credible and spontaneous rocker, still able to engage audiences with proud and entertaining concerts.
