Bo Hansson (1943–2010) was a Swedish multi-instrumentalist and composer, noted for instrumental, Tolkien-inspired progressive/psychedelic albums such as Sagan om ringen (released in the UK as Lord of the Rings) and Music Inspired by Watership Down.

Hansson was known for using organ and Moog as primary textures and for instrumental concept albums inspired by literature (notably J.R.R. Tolkien and Richard Adams). He recorded with percussionist Rune Carlsson. The album Sagan om ringen was reissued in Britain by Charisma as Lord of the Rings (review notes the 1972 Charisma reissue).

A nostalgic, partly admiring review of Bo Hansson's Lord of the Rings (Sagan om ringen), highlighting organ and Moog work, instrumental storytelling inspired by Tolkien, and period charm. The reviewer contrasts the album's tactile era with today's digital consumption. Overall a mixed but appreciative take.

For:Fans of instrumental progressive/psychedelic rock, listeners interested in Tolkien-inspired music, collectors of vintage 1970s prog albums.

Hansson was a virtuoso of the organ and moog and in this album also plays electric guitar and bass, accompanied by the talented percussionist Rune Carlsson and a saxophonist and a flutist.
