A clumsy caricature of Napoleon on the cover prompted me to buy this album, leading to the discovery of an American band from the nineties that delves into an accessible folk rock: overall digestible, with good ideas, but no fireworks, especially now that it is viewed with twenty years of experience ahead.

In the intro of "Turn It Off" the drums dabble in a tribal rhythm that extends until the explosion of a hard rock accordion riff that permeates the entire song; in the album the accordion stands out above all: over the grunge harmonies of "Invitation", in "Judgement Day" where it is embellished by the accompaniment of a steel guitar and in "Burn Up The Night", where it alternates with the voice in a dreamy, danceable rock-folk. A dash of Bob Dylan can be heard in these songs as in "Coming Down", where violin and strumming blend, or in the dry atmospheres of the singer-songwriter rock of "No Reaction", eventually receiving unmistakable confirmation in "Solid Sound", where a Dylan-esque vocal stands out and plays in the amusement park of ethnic rhythms and joyful explosions.

The album also includes the Hawaiian folk ballad "Go On Get Out" which ends with a blues finale, and "Time Being", a ballad on a Springsteen-esque carousel.

A band that is always pleasant to listen to...nothing more.
