Travelling with the mind is perhaps the most opportune moment to write a good review; and that is why I have decided to talk to you simply about this work by the British Blue States, who have reached their third effort "The Soundings".
A more appropriate title could not exist, since listening to it you savor the pleasure of how to make ears rejoice, simplicity made music, whimsical indie-pop melody that at the same time leaves the heart drenched with bittersweet sensations; and this is indeed what is felt throughout the 40 minutes of the album, the uncertainty whether the guys are serious or joking. I lean towards the former.

The opening track "Across The Wire" behaves in a tendentious way to play with the human soul, structured on those melodies of Synth, bass, and guitar all seasoned with Chris Carr's voice that seems to caress the remote and hidden corners of human intimacy.
The same sensations are felt in "For A Lifetime" and "Ten Shades" where the memories of the '80s are present without being trivialized as is often done in recent times.
Also notable are the instrumental tracks "One Night On Tulane" and "Output" in which the melody always presses on and leaves everything behind, without ever falling into mawkishness.

Inheritors of the AIR sound in a more rock key, this album is a surprise and since we are on vacation, I do not feel like dwelling any longer in describing it; all that's left for you to do is buy it, unwrap it, insert it into the player, put on your headphones, close your eyes, and start letting yourself be carried away by the gentle notes of the "sounds" coming from Blue States: bon voyage!
